Part-time side hustle turned full-time reality.

Hi there and welcome! My name is Lindsay, the artist behind Lindsay Rae Art. Ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil, creating has been my primary passion in life. It is my therapy. My version of story-telling. And most recently, it has become the foundation of my community building. Yet I never could have imagined that art would become my full-time career.

After graduating from the University of Idaho with a degree in International Studies and French, I had moved to Washington DC to chase after my dreams of working in the international development sector. It was a great 5 years, but something was missing. So when the pandemic hit, I packed up my things, drove across the country with my younger sister, and moved back home to Idaho to pursue art full-time. I have never been happier.

As a mixed media artist, I use wood, acrylic paint, pressed flowers, and resin to create 2D mixed media art, that has the feel of 3D mixed media. I always encourage viewers to experience my artwork through their hands, just as much as they do through their eyes.

Art for every body.

The majority of my artwork showcases the female form. Our bodies are ever changing, yet demonstrate strength, beauty and uniqueness throughout each stage of life. Creating these works from a female gaze, highlights the sensuality of the female body while breaking down the idea that nudity equates sexuality. Sharing my artwork has provided me the platform to discuss individuals perceptions of beauty versus societal standards of beauty. I hope I can continue to make artwork that allows others to feel seen and beautiful, as they exist presently.

 Home grown.

My friend and I planted our first flower garden in the spring of 2022. It was an exciting opportunity to grow first-hand, one of the most unique aspects of my artwork. Growing and pressing flowers is one of my favorite parts of my artistic process as it often provides the greatest challenges and learning opportunities. Some of my favorite flowers to work with are Zinnias, Celosia, and Strawflowers. The organic and sensual shapes and lines found in flowers perfectly reflect the female form.
